In this class, you will learn how to insert spokes on top of a gourd and weave a basket.  Learn triple twine weaving and how to weave undulating hills and valleys to create a landscape.

Lesson 1 Preparing the Gourd
Lesson 2 Weaving the Dream Catcher
Lesson 3 Inserting spokes and weaving (longer lesson)
Lesson 4 Finishing the weaving and adding a rim
Lesson 5 Embellishments that add pizzazz
 

Materials needed:
Gourd – needs to have thick walls. Test by tapping on side. A thick walled gourd will have a lower sound. Also check by weight of gourd.Welburn Gourds sell thick gourds
Saw
Drill – I use a Dremel. Drill bits: # 9/64” or 5/32”
Leather dye (or something to decorate the gourd-or you can leave natural)
Rubber gloves and a breathing mask/respirator
#3 or #4 Smoked Round Reed – cut into 14” lengths (longer if you want a taller basket) – these will be your spokes. www.royalwoodltd.com

Beads, pods, feathers, buttons, etc. for decorations
