Knotless Netting Collar

 You'll learn a basic knotless netting stitch to create a collar on the neck of a gourd and then add fringe. You'll need to have your gourd cleaned and colored (optional) before you begin.*

This class is a quickie! You'll use large pony/crow beads to weave a flat patch in Peyote-Stitch (which is also the practice session for learning tubular Peyote-Stitch in the beaded collar class). We'll also discuss the kinds of beads that are best used for this stitch, and how to use this classic bead-weaving style to create your own tubular beads as well as flat necklaces

The above picture is not included in the class as a project although it can be made with only the knowledge that you gain from the Flat Peyote and Bead Discussion class!

You'll learn a basic chip carving design by plotting a design in pencil, including preparing an area for an inlay. Your gourd should not be colored until after you finish carving.*

Peyote-Stitch Beaded Collar
Level: Beginning

In this class you'll learn to weave a Peyote-Stitch collar directly onto the neck of a gourd. We'll begin with a practice session, which duplicates the Flat Peyote-Stitch class. (Your class fee will be reduced if you've already taken the Flat Peyote class.) Then we'll go directly into creating the collar. You'll need to have your gourd cleaned and colored (optional) before you begin.* The last part of this class will deal with adding fringe to your completed collar...and a discussion of various finishing techniques with fringe.
