Messengers and Storytellers
Part 1: Storyteller Doll
All Levels
Number of lessons: 5
Class cost: $60.00

Expand your design and technique vocabulary in this spirited workshop.  We will create figures of polymer clay using unique surface designs of millefiore and rich embellishments of beads, fibers and your personal treasures.  Using Faux Ivory clay (which we will make) we will create heads and faces using a very easy technique. The torsos will be covered with Millefiore, the ancient Venetian glass bead making technique adapted to polymer clay. These designs are a kaleidoscope of color and fun to learn. The "messengers" can have secret places to hide a message or object, the "storytellers" can house a small book and both can incorporate removable jewelry. This class will give you fresh visions and open new possibilities for your own work!

Standing African Figure
All Levels
Number of lessons: 4
Class cost: $60.00

Not currently Scheduled

The art and imagery of Africa will inspire the standing figures we create from polymer clay, wire, beads, textiles, fibers and personal treasures. The faces and/or masks will look like old ivory (we will make faux ivory from clay) with carved tribal designs. The hollow standing torsos will be wrapped in Venetian Millefiore clay canework. This is the ancient Venetian glass bead making technique adapted to polymer clay. This design will reflect tribal cloth and is fun to learn. Head pieces can incorporate textiles, fibers, wirework, natural materials and beads. The figure will also include a pair of removable earrings. The finished pieces can range in size from 6 inches to 14 inches.
